Handel – Messiah

Throughout the past four centuries of choral music, one work has shone brilliantly and continuously, defying changes of society, musical taste and style – Handel – Messiah. There is a simple reason for this. It contains the most sublime music with arias such as I know that my Redeemer liveth and The trumpet shall sound, instrumental beauty in the Pastoral Symphony and a series of masterly movements for the choir culminating in the Hallelujah and Worthy is the Lamb choruses. The Chichester Singers performance of this great work will shine as a radiant light through the dark days of January.
